Although the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Dark Edition has yet to be officially announced, its major piece of kit has already leaked.

Earlier this year, when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was first revealed with a brief story trailer, pre-orders for the game quickly went up on my retailers’ websites.

Among them was GameStop, which had one extra edition – the $200 Dark Edition – that wasn’t mentioned in the official release. Seeing as Modern Warfare doesn’t have a season pass, fans were puzzles as to the content of the mysterious edition. Fast forward to this week, and those attending the Modern Warfare multiplayer reveal event actually got to see the Dark Edition on full display.

As rumoured, this $200 version of the game comes with physical, wearable night vision goggles. Infinity Ward officially teased the kit on Twitter, promising more at today’s event.

Journalist Leon Hurley, snapped a few good pictures of the thing at the event. The goggles appear to be better-constructed than the flimsy ones that shipped with Modern Warfare 2’s collector’s edition. Take a look:
