CD Projekt Red clarifies "three Cyberpunk games in development" quote [Update]

CD Projekt Red has issued a statement to say it's not actually working on three Cyberpunk games.

Update: Following on from a translated report on a Polish business site (which you can read below), the developer has now clarified what it actually told the site in the interview.

"We currently have a total of five teams working on a number of projects, with three focusing on the development of Cyberpunk 2077," the developer said in a statement to PCGamer.

"These include CD Projekt Red Warsaw and Kraków, who are handling the main game, as well as the Wrocław studio, where around 40 industry specialists are engaged in technology R&D."

"A separate, dedicated team at the Warsaw studio is handling the development of Gwent.

This leaves out the team in Spokko, which the statement said is working "on a yet unannounced mobile project." That's about it. There aren't three games currently in development in the Cyberpunk universe - at least not officially.

Original story: According to Bankier.pl, a Polish business journal, (CD Projekt Red is based in Poland), the studio currently has three projects in the works set in the Cyberpunk universe:

"We're working on three Cyberpunk things – the main game and two more," said CD Projekt Red President Adam Kiciński.

Recognize that this is all coming from a Google translation, but according to the article, CD Projekt Red Vice President Piotra Nielubowicz said, "Our next big project will also be in the Cyberpunk universe, and we're already working on it and treating it as a really big and innovative project for us."

Interestingly, the story confirmed that a multiplayer mode is in the works for Cyberpunk 2077. Kiciński says that its Wrocław team of about 40 people is working on a multiplayer mode for the game, although we're not sure if it will be included at launch.

The company plans to show the full 30-minute E3 demo at Gamescom in August, and at the end of August, CD Projekt Red will share a new piece of the game at PAX West in Seattle. Here's everything else we know about the game so far.
