Guardian Con, a Miami-based Destiny convention, raised more than $3.7 million during its 2019 Twitch livestream benefitting the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The livestream started June 16 and ended June 23. Groups, such as Achievement Hunter and What’s Good Games, filled time slots throughout, playing games and collecting donations. Being a Destiny convention, Bungie participated in the stream, raising more than $400,000 during its time slot. In a Tweet, Guardian Con said it was the largest contribution in a single time slot ever:
A massive thank you to @Bungie for a MASSIVE block during the GuardianCon marathon! The LARGEST block EVER with $400 THOUSAND dollars and counting raised for the kids of St. Jude. @NeebsOfficial is up, let’s keep the hype going! https://t.co/iizFdXmE1m

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is an organization that leads the fight against childhood cancer through education, treatment, and research.
Bungie recently took Destiny 2 off Battle.net after Activision and Bungie severed their multi-game partnership early. In other news, Bungie is trying to put out Destiny 2 content at a faster pace, but thankfully not at the expense of its workforce.
