Jedi: Fallen Order won't let you go chop-wild on human limbs

Jedi: Fallen Order's Cal Kestis isn't about to become a gruesome arm collector.

Fallen Order Senior designer Justin Perez told IGN that lightsabers will only be chopping off limbs in "select cases." In other words - spiders and droids are fair game but don't expect to slice off Stormtrooper limbs.

It sounds like the firm (and not-dismembered) arm of Disney's brand protection is to blame.

Lightsabers might be brutal tools for slicing flesh like hot butter, but Star Wars is a family franchise. Even in the films, your limbs are safe unless you happen to be a Skywalker or a sufficiently bestial alien.

Even if you can't start a grisly collection, our first look at Fallen Order's combat looked solid. Standard troopers might go down quickly, but tougher foes will require more technical prowess.

Fallen Order might not be Sekiro. But by combining a growing library of force powers, counters and combos, it could come close.
