Kojima shares brief timeline of events since leaving Konami and envisioning Death Stranding

When Death Stranding launches later this year, it will have only taken Kojima Productions less than three years to make.

As he tends to do on Twitter, Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima discussed some of the interesting events he's been part of over the past three years, particularly in the period after leaving Konami.

The veteran director shared a brief timeline of major milestones such as building the new studio, acquiring the Decima engine from Guerrilla Games, creating trailers for the game and more.

The tweets reveal an interesting insight into how the different events fit. For example, Kojima convinced Norman Reedus to star in a lead role, and finished his motion capture scans well before Death Stranding had an engine. Likewise, Mads Mikkelsen's involvement happened just before the first trailer, which was a couple of months away from the start of development.

"In Jan 2016, DEATH STRANDING only existed in my brain, now it became to real and was able to announce the release day, thanks to everyone at Guerilla Games. They kindly offer their engine that worth as their life. I never forget that strand," Kojima wrote.
