Microsoft to release Gears of War 5, Age of Empires: Definitive Editions, more PC titles on Steam

Xbox Game Studios PC games are coming to storefronts other than the Windows Store, including Gears of War 5.

Microsoft announced today upcoming PC titles would be heading to Steam and other storefronts.

The company said the intent is to make its Xbox Game Studios PC games available to a wider range of players, and providing a choice to where the titles are purchased.

In March, it was announced Halo: The Master Chief Collection would be made available through Steam.

Today, Microsoft specifically said Gears of War 5 and all Age of Empires: Definitive Editions will be made available on Valve's store.

"We know millions of PC gamers trust Steam as a great source to buy PC games and we’ve heard the feedback that PC gamers would like choice," said Microsoft.

"We also know that there are other stores on PC, and we are working to enable more choice in which store you can find our Xbox Game Studios titles in the future."

Earlier today, Microsoft also announced it was bringing Xbox Game Pass to PC and would provide more information at E3 2019.

Edit: The post originally said 20 games from Microsoft were coming to Steam. No. There are already 20 Microsoft Studios games available through Steam. We regret the error and have corrected the post. We have also told the author to: 1) get her eyes checked; 2) not write anything in the morning before finishing her second cup; and 3) to stop staying up so late playing Dark Souls 3.
