There’s a Devil May Cry 5 secret ending and it allows you to unlock the harder difficulties without finishing the game, if you’re good enough.

DMC 5’s secret ending is triggered by beating Urizen in your first encounter while playing as Nero. This is a fight you’re meant to lose, as he has a ridiculous pool of health, and his barrages damage you incessantly.

Here’s a top-tier player showing everyone how it’s done (video contains some ability spoilers as it’s in New Game+):

But there is another, easier way to beat him. First you need to finish the game on the Son of Sparda mode and you’ll unlock Heaven or Hell. On this difficulty, everything – including you – dies in one hit. That also goes for Urizen.

The thing is, the secret ending is just a bunch of text and the credits, so it’s not really worth doing this way. The only real benefit of beating Urizen early is to allow amazing players to unlock the harder difficulty modes from the outset. Oh, and you get the ‘Well I’ll Be Damned’ trophy or achievement, if you care about that stuff.

But if you’re just curious, here’s a video of it being cheesed on Heaven or Hell:
