God of War wins Game of the Year at 2019 GDC Awards

God of War walked home with its third, industry backed Game of the Year award during GDC this week.

The annual GDC Awards were held the evening of March 20, during which God of War was handed its third Game of the Year award.

God of War took Game of the Year at the D.I.C.E. Awards in February and The Game Awards in December 2018. The action-adventure title is also up for Best Game at the 2019 BAFTA Games Awards, and has received nominations in nine additional categories.

It also walked off with Game of the Year at the Golden Joysticks, New York Game Awards, SXSW, and a couple others.

Celeste, Red Dead Redemption 2, Spider-Man, and Return of the Obra Dinn were also nominated for Game of the Year at the GDC Awards.

Two specialty awards were also handed out. Amy Hennig was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Rieko Kodama with the Pioneer Award.
