Oddworld: Soulstorm cinematic gives us a quick look at the upcoming title

Oddworld Inhabitants showed a cinematic for Oddworld: Soulstorm this week.

Three different videos for Oddworld: Soulstorm were shown during the Unity keynote at GDC 2019. The follow-up to Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty has been in development since 2016. This is the first we've seen of the game since Lorne Lanning's world building talk in 2018.

The first video is a cinematic which the studio used to demonstrate rendering techniques being used for the game. The other two are super short and focus mainly on tech.

Soulstorm picks up after Abe killed Molluck the Glukkon and freed the Mudokons. He and 300 emancipated Mudokons become stranded in the desert with no food, water, or shelter. Here, they find "solace in a strange new brew," with "insidious ramifications for their newfound freedom."

Oddworld: Soulstorm is set for release sometime this year, according to a previous press release. The official website, however, has it listed for 2020.
