Google's plans for a game controller may have leaked thanks to a new patent

The newly filed patent suggests that we might see the video game controller at GDC 2019 this month.

Thurrott reported on the discovery of the patent application  which is for a notification system between the contoller and its console counterpart.

The controller has been brought to life through renders by  Sarang Sheth at Yanko Design (via techradar), and you can check out the conceptualisation in the gallery below.

According to the details of the patent, it's for a "game controller that provides notifications for a game invitation, a chat message, an indication that a user's high score has been beaten, or the like," which will be displayed as either an audio or visual cue.

Taking it a step further, it looks like the controller will be compatible with a number of devices from TVs, to smartphones, to tablets. Users can choose on which device to launch the app that they received the notification from.

Google has already teased its upcoming game streaming service for a reveal at GDC 2019, so it's likely it might unveil the controller during its keynote as well.
