Fortnite: Epic disables Driftboards in Save the World after players discover numerous bugs

Epic has taken the recently added Driftboards out of Fortnite's Save the World PvE mode.

Driftboards arrived in Fortnite with patch v7.40, released last week. Unlike most new toys, however, Driftboards were made available in both the Save the World PvE mode, as well as Battle Royale.

Surprisingly, they didn't break Battle Royale, but instead caused a heap of trouble to Save the World players since their release, forcing Epic to disable them.

In the game's wave defence mode, players discovered that Driftboards have a tendency to break in spectacular ways, such as launching riders off across the map. This can be triggered if the rider is attacked by an enemy, or if they attack themselves off the back of the board.

As amusing as this may be to the viewer, the issue has frustrated players. More importantly, Driftboards have been causing other issues in Save the World, like preventing automated turrets from targeting enemies, and more strangely, preventing players from being able to approach Storm Chests.

This turn of events has become the norm for many new additions in Fortnite. Epic regularly updates the game, releasing a new weapon or vehicle of some description almost every week. More often than not, though, the developer is forced to disable the new content soon after, upon discovering that it can be abused, or because it's simply not balanced.
