Darkest Dungeon 2 currently in the works

Red Hook Studios has announced Darkest Dungeon 2 is in the works.

A sequel to Darkest Dungeon, the turn-based roguelike from Red Hook studios is currently in development. While few details are known regarding Darkest Dungeon 2 at present, at least we know it's coming.

The announcement was made in an interview with PC Gamer, alongside a teaser video.

According to the interview, you can expect the combat system to return but with a "significant tune-up" mechanically, and "in terms of presentation."

A "completely different metagame structure" is also expected, along with the six character classes from the original. Hints in the interview suggest the sequel takes place after the events of Darkest Dungeon DLC, The Color of Madness.

An Early Access release for Darkest Dungeon 2 is a possibility, as the team are "big fans" of the model, but this has yet to be confirmed. Still, the sequel is "very appropriate for an Early Access type approach," but only if it makes sense.

You should give the interview a read at the ink.

Darkest Dungeon is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One and mobile. If you have to pick it up, or any of its DLC, there's a rather sale sale on both through Steam until February 22.
