Fortnite: how to merge accounts

Fortnite's account merging on console is now live, and here's how to do it.

Account merging is a feature Epic announced at the end of last year, shortly after Sony agreed to cross-platform play.

Initially scheduled to roll out in November 2018, the feature was delayed, but you'll be happy to know it's here at last.

Linking console logins will let you merge all of your Fortnite cosmetic items and V-Bucks into one account, so if you play Fortnite on PS4, Xbox One, and Switch, here's what you need to do.

Players will need to choose two accounts. One of them will be your Primary account that you'll use going forward. The Secondary account will be merged with your Primary account and disabled.

The Secondary account's console login will be immediately linked to your Primary account.

After a fortnight - that's two weeks, but I wasn't going to ignore the low-hanging fruit there - your cosmetic items and V-Bucks will be transferred to your Primary account.

There are a few caveats outlined by Epic, and you can peruse them below:

  • One account must have played on Xbox One or Switch and the other on PS4 before September 28th 2018 to be eligible.
  • Your account must not currently be banned or disabled.
  • In-game items and Vbucks will be held for two weeks before they’re merged to your primary account.
  • You’ll need access to all email addresses that are associated with accounts you wish to merge
  • If you have duplicate 3rd party login like Facebook on both your Primary and Secondary account, the Secondary login will be unlinked. You can unlink it prior to merging.
  • Battle Royale will allow you to merge all cosmetic items. Save the World will allow you to merge Llamas, Defenders, Heroes, Schematics, Survivors, XP, Evolution and Perk Materials.
  • Other Items such as Unreal Marketplace items, Creative Islands, and Save The World account level and progress will not be merged over from your secondary account

When you're ready to get started, head on over here.
