Red Dead Redemption 2 has shipped over 23 million units

Red Dead Redemption has shipped quite a few copies.

Take-Two announced in its latest financial report Red Dead Redemption 2 has shipped 23 million units since it released in October.

The actual term used was sold-in, which mean shipped to retail. Sell-through is the term used when a product is sold to customers.

These figures are up from the 17 million reported in November. RDR2 hit that figure within 11 days of release.

Red Dead Redemption 2 also had the largest opening weekend in retail sell-through with over $725 million, as reported in October 2018.

It was also the second biggest launch in retail sell-through across all entertainment releases over a weekend. Number one being Grand Theft Auto 5, of course.

According to The NPD Group, it was also the best-selling video game of 2018. Comparatively, the original Red Dead Redemption sole 15 million units lifetime.

Well done, Arthur Morgan and friends.
