Titanfall battle royale game Apex Legends set to release today

A free-to-play game set in the Titanfall universe is set to release on Monday, February 4.

A battle royale game set in the Titanfall universe will be released on Monday, with developer Respawn livestreaming the reveal on Twitch.

Rumors originally stemmed for various streamers who were in LA last week for an event, many of which sent information to eSports insider Rod Breslau.

According to the information handed to Breslau, EA and Respawn invited streamers and eSports pros out to the event to play Apex Legends.

Apex Legends will feature three-player teams with up to 60 players max on a server. Like other online competitive games, think Fortnite, Overwatch, etcetera, the game will include cosmetic items and in-game content through loot boxes and transactions.

Various folks who attended the event told Breslau "the game felt good," and they were "genuinely excited for it."

EA trademarked Apex Legends back in 2018, and there's even a "PlayApex" placeholder site up, (thanks, Nibel).

Furthermore, during a Q2 fiscal year 2019 call to investors in October, company CFO Blake Jorgensen confirmed Respawn had multiple titles in the works.

Apex Legends is set to release on Monday, February 4 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. We'll have hands-on impressions and plenty of news from the event as soon as the embargo lifts.
