Anthem is getting new enemies, possible new regions post launch

Though BioWare has yet to fully detail Anthem's post-launch plans, the developer has begun hinting at what's in store for players in the weeks and months to come.

Anthem may be BioWare's first live service game, but it's not the first game of its kind. Fans are already taking notes, and will be comparing the game's post-launch slate to that of competing games.

In an interview with MMO Games, Anthem producer Scylla Costa revealed that teams across the studio's different branches are currently working on post-launch content.

Though Costa wasn't too specific, he did confirm that some of that content includes new creatures, and new areas for players to explore.

"We have many different teams who have been working on that stuff for a few weeks already, so you can see different cosmetic items, different creatures, maybe a new region to explore," he said.

This also extends to other live events such as weather conditions and such, which play a bigger part in Anthem's combat than they do in most games. Rain, for example, makes electric attacks much more effective, and ups the time players can spend flying or hovering thanks to cooler jets.

"Try to imagine that we can create different weather states and apply that so not only are new parts of the world going to behave differently, but old parts of the world as well. If it’s day or if it’s night some creatures may show up or may be more powerful. We can play with all of these variables and create a new narrative for the game," explained Costa.

There's still much we don't know about Anthem's post-launch content. Weather and time of day changes are all well and good, but many are looking for more concrete plans about story content, and specific details about expansions to the world of Anthem.

Some of this may soon be revealed. Until then, there's a free Anthem demo you can jump in this weekend on all platforms.

Anthem officially launches February 22 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
