Detective Pikachu sequel already in the works at Legendary Pictures

Legendary Pictures is so confident Detective Pikachu will be a hit, it's already planning the sequel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Legendary Pictures has tagged 22 Jump Street's Oren Uziel to pen the Detective Pikachu sequel.

Uziel's previous work includes The Cloverfield Paradox, Freaks of Nature, and the upcoming Supergirl, Men in Black: International, Mortal Kombat and Sonic the Hedgehog films.

Busy man.

Detective Pikachu stars Ryan Reynolds who lends his voice to the face of the Pokemon franchise. It will also star Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton.

The film is set to release in theaters on May 10.
