PUBG gets Vikendi Survivor Pass, with a $10 premium option

Today's PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds PC patch added the game's new pass: Vikendi.

With the release of PUBG's new map, Vikendi, earlier today, developer PUBG Corp. has launched a new themed pass for players. This is the game's second one, after the Sanhok pass, which wasn't especially well received.

The good news is that the developer seems to have taken feedback on board, and the Vikendi pass is looking to be more rewarding for all players. For starters, the Vikendi Survivor Pass will be available for ten weeks.

There's a free version, and a premium, paid version of the pass for $10. All players will be able to make progress in both, but only those who paid for the premium will be able to claim premium rewards. There are free rewards in the free tier, of course.

The structure is similar to the existing Survival Rewards progression system, whereby players are given daily and weekly missions, which net XP that can be claimed towards the different pass levels. Everyone will be getting three daily missions, and ten weeklies.

Non-owners of the premium version will be limited to completing four weekly missions per week, however, as opposed to the full ten for premium members. PUBG Corp. explained that there are three types of missions: beginner, premium, and challenge missions.

Beginner missions are the easiest to complete, available to all players. Premium missions, too, will be available to all players, but their rewards can only be claimed by owners of the premium pass.

Finally, challenge missions are given to players who manage to clear all their weeklies in time, and they feature the most demanding requirements of all. Likewise, challenge mission rewards are only available to premium players.

Today's update also introduces the new coupon system, which offers another way of getting rewards outside of BP. Coupons are found in boxes, which are scattered around the different levels in the pass, and can be redeemed at a special section of the in-game store.

The Vikendi Event Pass is now live alongside the map on PC. Console players will likely receive it when Vikendi launches sometime in January.
