Monster Hunter World The Witcher collaboration coming in early 2019

In today's news-filled Monster Hunter World presentation, Capcom dropped a surprise announcement for Witcher fans.

Monster Hunter World is getting The Witcher series protagonist Geralt of Rivia as a playable character in a free update coming to PS4, and Xbox One in early 2019.

Not only that, Capcom is promising unique quests that blend the RPG mechanics found in The Witcher series with Monster Hunter: World’s existing systems. Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto said to expect something never before seen in a Monster Hunter game.

It's not quite clear what this means for gameplay, but the announcement does confirm Gerlat will be using his signature magic signs and fighting style. And, as you can hear in the trailer, Doug Cockle is once again revising his role.

Unfortunately - as with all of today's announcements - PC players will have to wait longer for this content. Capcom didn't specify how long the wait will be, but it did confirm a later release for PC.
