Rockstar does not currently have any plans to wipe Red Dead Online progress after the beta

Update: Worried about losing your progress when Red Dead Online comes out of beta? Rockstar currently has no plans to wipe your character.

Though Rockstar said at launch that a progress wipe could be on the cards, it's not something the developer is considering at present. Rockstar revealed the news in a tweet:

Earlier this week, Rockstar revealed plans to shake up Red Dead Online's economy, which should hopefully land in an update this week.

Original story: Rockstar has revealed that progress made during the Red Dead Online beta may be lost come launch.

The Red Dead Online beta, which kicked off yesterday, is gradually allowing more and more players in - all the way until Friday.

To set player expectations and prepare everyone for what's to come, Rockstar penned a blog post explaining what's going to be available now in the beta, and what's yet to come.

At the very end of the post, Rockstar warned players that progress made during the Red Dead Online beta may not be permanent. Though the developer didn't definitively say if it has plans to reset everyone's progress, it warned that this could happen.

"We hope that all player progress during this early period of the Beta will be able to remain intact long term," wrote Rockstar.

"However, as with many betas for large scale online experiences such as this, there is always the chance that we may need to implement rank or other stat resets in case of issues."

This is the same post where we also learned that the game's gold bars will be sold for real-world money at some point soon. Microtransactions are not yet live at the time of writing.

Rockstar never announced an end date for the Red Dead Online beta.
