If you're looking to start Red Dead Redemption 2 with a snazzy new pistol, you can unlock the Double-Action Revolver.

The catch here is Arthur Morgan will only get this weapon at the start of his adventures if you play GTA Online. Once you unlock it in Los Santos, it becomes available to use in Red Dead Redemption 2 in a striking gold finish.

The Double-Action Revolver isn't the only RDR2 freebie you can get with GTA 5. The Stone Hatchet is also available by playing GTA Online, giving you yet another excuse to revisit an old favorite.

To get the Double-Action Revolver early in Red Dead Redemption 2, you need to complete a Treasure Hunt in GTA Online. Enter a freeroam lobby and head to the Email app on your iFruit.

Look for a message from vanderlinde@eyefind.com titled "Treasure Hunt". The email has a picture in it, and says: "Use the photograph in this email to identify the location of the treasure."

You will then be sent on a treasure hunt, and have to head to random locations marked on your map to find a chest. The chest is inscribed with Boles Overland Stagecoach Co, which appears in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Once you open the chest and get the Double-Action Revolver, you must complete the Headshot Challenge in freemode to get it in RDR2 as well. This basically requires you to kill 50 players with headshots.

After you've done this, you will be able to get the Double-Action Revolver in Red Dead Redemption 2 - as long as you linked your game to your Rockstar Games Social Club account.

The golden version will automatically be added to your Inventory after the end of Chapter 1. This is a handy bonus, as usually you'd have to wait until Chapter 3 before you can get the Double-Action Revolver.
