Playdiablo4.com is a fan-made site that redirects to Path of Exile's homepage

Blizzard disappointed many by not announcing a core Diablo game at BlizzCon 2018 over the weekend, so fans are making one more joke at the studio's expense.

In case you missed it, Blizzard closed out its BlizzCon opening ceremony with the reveal of Diablo Immortal, a mobile-only MMO that's not coming to PC.

Needless to say, Diablo fans anticipating a core game announcement weren't thrilled, causing a backlash the developer hasn't faced in a long while.

As a joke, one fan bought the domain PlayDiablo4.com. Only instead of directing to any of the official pages for existing Diablo games, or to some sort of text message (as these tend to be), it redirects to the official site of Path of Exile.

Path of Exile is, of course, a free-to-play Diablo equivalent, and an excellent one at that. For years, the game has been constantly updated with new content, and it remained free-to-play. Path of Exile players often cite it as one of the fairest models for a free-to-play games out there today.

For its part, Path of Exile developer Grinding Gear decided to use this wave of interest to tease the game's upcoming expansion.

Blizzard confirmed at BlizzCon that it has multiple Diablo projects in development, so it's very likely one of them is a core Diablo game for PC. But, the developer didn't show the shortest of teasers at the event, which is why fans are extra annoyed.

Thanks, ResetEra.
