Red Dead Redemption 2 soundtrack is entirely original, features work from over 110 artists

Rockstar has revealed full details about the talent behind Red Dead Redemption 2's soundtrack.

The soundtrack of Red Dead Redemption 2, much like GTA 5, features both original music and vocal tracks. The original game's composer, Woody Jackson, returns to score the sequel.

Jackson also contributed to the soundtracks of GTA 5, and L.A. Noire. Jackson was accompanied by Jeff Silverman, who produced and arranged the music, and Colin Stetson, who contributed to the score and orchestration of some of the pieces.

Even more big names like Johnny Cash’s engineer David Ferguson, Sons of Anarchy's David Ralicke, True Detective's Gabe Witcher, Luke O'Malley, Mario Batkovic, Matt Sweeney, Rabih Beaini, and Senyawa all contributed to Red Dead Redemption 2's music. Rockstar says over 110 other musicians worked on the score.

As for the vocal tracks/moments, Bob Dylan producer and Grammy Award-winner Daniel Lanois was on hand to produce, with Brian Eno collaborating. More vocal performances were provided by D’Angelo, Willie Nelson, Nas, Rhiannon Giddens, and Josh Homme, with an original track by David Ferguson.

Though Rockstar was happy to reveal this stellar cast, the developer has yet to announce when and where the soundtrack will be available. GTA 5's soundtrack was made available on streaming services, and for digital purchase, following the game's launch. The same will no doubt happen with Red Dead Redemption 2.
