Pokemon Go Beldum Community Day: Shiny Beldum, Metang and Metagross, event bonuses and start time

The next Pokemon Go Community Day event takes on October 21, and this time the focus is Beldum.

Another month, another Pokemon Go Community Day. The October 2018 community day is a good’un, too for our money – this time, it’s all about steel and psychic-type Pokemon Beldum, which just so happens to evolve into some pretty decent Pokemon later down the line.

As is the norm for Pokemon Go Community Days, the Beldum Community Day will mean that the titular Pokemon will appear far more often in the wild for three hours on the community day. There’s other rewards as part of this community day too. There’s a range of rewards around evolution, special moves and of course a chance to catch a shiny Beldum. We’ll explain all below…

Pokemon Go Beldum Community Day October Date, Start Time & End Time

As always, October’s community day is a worldwide affair that will last three hours. While August’s Eevee event was extended to two days to allow players to catch more Pokemon in order to see each of the Eevee Evolutions in Pokemon Go, Beldum has a simple three Pokemon evolution path like, so the Beldum event is back down to three hours on one day only.

That day is October 21. That’s a Sunday, meaning most people will be free to head to the park or another location packed with PokeStops. The Pokemon Go Beldum Community Event will take place at different times depending on what part of the world you’re in:

  • Beldum Community Day Times in Asia Pacific: 10am to 1pm JST
  • Beldum Community Day Times in Europe and Africa: 10am to 1pm UK, 11am to 2pm CET
  • Beldum Community Day Times in North America: 11am to 2pm PST, 2pm to 5pm EST

As always with these community day events, Beldum day carries with it a bunch of different important buffs. Most important is that the wild Pokemon encounter rate for Beldum and Shiny Beldum is way up during this three hour period – but there are actually other buffs that are their own reward for participating in this community day.

Let’s talk about those buffs and rewards in more detail…

Pokemon Go October Community Day Rewards: Shiny Beldum, Fast Egg Hatching, Exclusive Move and more

As mentioned above, the main reason to take part in this community day is to catch a bunch of Beldum and then find one with half-decent stats and evolve it up to Metang and then Metagross, the more powerful evolutions of this Pokemon.

Metagross is well worth having access to, by the way – this steel and psychic-type third evolution will cost you 125 candy to reach (25 to evolve Beldum to Metang, then 100 to evolve Metang into Metagross), but it ranks multiple times on our Pokemon Go Best Pokemon Tier List: it’s 14th on the attackers and 18th on the defenders. That makes it a pretty good all-rounder. The steel and psychic type mix can also be used to exploit the weaknesses of Pokemon who have a type weakness to psychic or steel moves – which is a decent type-spread. Taking part in the event has other bonuses too, however, making it quite worthwhile:

  • Beldum spawn rate is way up, including for Shiny Beldum
  • Lures will last for three hours at a time, meaning one dropped on a Pokestop at the start of the event will last the whole event
  • Pokemon Eggs will hatch in 1/4 of the time. This makes eggs hatch over a much smaller distance, so break out that Pokemon Go Egg Chart and figure out what you want to hatch on the community day
  • Guaranteed access to an exclusive move for Metagross. We don’t quite know what the move is, how it’ll work or how powerful it’ll be yet – but we know that the move will be for Metagross, the final evolution in the Beldum line. The likelihood is that in order to get it you’ll need to evolve a Metang into a Metagross during the event hours

Sadly there doesn’t appear to be a Stardust Bonus this time around, but this is still a great opportunity to gain a lot of experience and catch a lot of Beldum in order to have a solid chance to have one with a good IV to then evolve into Metang and Metagross, the two fairly strong evolutions of the starter.

Shiny Beldum: what color to look out for on the day

If you want to know how Shiny Beldum looks, you can see it below: whereas Beldum usually has a green/blue sort of hue, a shiny one looks super cool, taking on a solid steel sort of look with gold accenting. It’s one of the most cool-looking Shiny Pokemon for our money, so this is a community day you really might want to hope for a lucky, good stat shiny on. Here’s a look at the shiny forms of Beldum, Metang and Metagross so you know what you’re looking for on the community event day:
