We may not get new Diablo game announcements at BlizzCon 2018, but Blizzard will be sharing "some Diablo news"

For the past few days, Blizzard fans got very excited about the idea of a Diablo-related announcement at BlizzCon 2018.

It all started when Blizzard published the BlizzCon 2018 schedule, which featured a panel on Friday titled Diablo: What’s Next.

The panel is taking place following the show's opening ceremony, which typically means big news. Diablo didn't show up at last year's BlizzCon, and so everyone assumed Blizzard must be about to unveil some major Diablo news. Given the panel's name, it was all but confirmed we're going to be hearing about one or more new Diablo games.

Now, Blizzard has weighed in to temper fans' expectations. "BlizzCon 2018 is almost here and we’ve seen a lot of rumours flying around about our plans for Diablo at the show," Blizzard wrote.

"These are very exciting times—we currently have multiple teams working on different Diablo projects and we can’t wait to tell you all about them ... when the time is right."

Blizzard explained that while the panel may not bring a game announcement as some were hoping, it's still going to have "Diablo-related news."

"We know what many of you are hoping for and we can only say that 'good things come to those who wait,' but evil things often take longer," Blizzard jokingly said.

BlizzCon 2018 takes place November 2-3.
