Assassin’s Creed Odyssey lets you kill someone’s mum and shag their dad to complete a sidequest

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is the most fun I’ve had with the series since Black Flag.

Origins was a brilliant game, but a lot of the sidequests felt like filler and you were always following a predetermined outcome. With Odyssey - which adds full choice and consequence, RPG-style - your journey feels much more personal.

Some of the quests are still a bit duff and occasionally the writing fails to remind you why the hell you’re even doing certain things, but sometimes it all comes together and creates something glorious.

Take this one quest I did last night, in which you can save the day by retrieving allegedly stolen goods in the worst possible way.

This could have turned out very differently. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey allows you to take enemies down non-lethally, so I could have just knocked his mum out. As for the blacksmith dad, I could have simply bought the wares from him, but my Kassandra likes to play around. But then this would have never happened, so I'm glad my Kassandra is a bit of an inept hero.

If you’re starting out with the game, take a look at our Assassin’s Creed Odyssey guide.
