Annual Desert Bus for Hope charity stream starts its engines next month

The 12th annual Desert Bus for Hope will kick off the second week of November this year.

As usual, all proceeds from Desert Bus for Hope will be donated to Child's Play Charities.

Desert Bus for Hope is an annual event wherein a bunch of people play the cult classic Desert Bus for hours on end. The game is part of a never released Sega CD compilation.

In Desert Bus, you drive a crappy old bus and it isn't the safest means of conveyance. And the game is a long one: it takes eight real-time hours to drive from Tuscon, Arizona to Las Vegas, Nevada and you only earn one point per trip. You can thank the creators of the game of that: magicians Penn & Teller.

This year, there will be plenty of fun things going on during the Desert Bus for Hope stream. There will be singing, dancing, auctions, celebrity guests, comedy sketches, and more.

Over the past 11 years, the charity has raised over $4 million for Child’s Play. The 2017 fundraiser ran for 158 hours and raised over $650,000.

The 2018 Desert Bus for Hope livestream will be held on November 9 and starts at 10am PT on Twitch.tv. The stream will remain live as long as the donations continue to come in from viewers.
