Mega Man to be adapted into live-action film

Capcom today announced Mega Man will be adapted into a live-action film.

The feature film is tentatively titled Mega Man and will be distributed by 20th Century Fox.

Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (Nerve, Viral), founders of the New York City production company Supermarche, are set to both write and direct the film.

Chernin Entertainment, responsible for the Planet of the Apes films and television series such as New Girl, will produce the film with Masi Oka (Heroes, The Meg).

"Capcom aims to appeal to a diverse audience, including not only game players but action movie fans as well," said Capcom in the announcement. The company promised the adaptation would "maintain the world of the Mega Man games," while incorporating the "grand production and entertainment value that Hollywood movies are known for."

Mega Man 11, the newest game title in the series, was released on October 2 in North America and in Europe October 4.
