A new trap could be coming to Fortnite's Battle Royale

With Season 6 now underway, new things are regularly being announced for Fortnite as the map evolves.

Dataminer FNBRLeaks has claimed to have found files in the Athena directory that would indicate that a Freeze Trap will be coming to Fortnite's Battle Royale mode.

The Freeze Trap is classed as a rare item which will "Hits all enemies on trap when triggered doing small damage and slowing players" according to FNBRLeaks.

We don't know how much damage the trap can do but the files suggest we'll be able to place it on any flat surface, which is ideal, really.

It's unclear if the effects of the trap will mean a player is literally frozen in place or whether they'll just be slowed down. The ability to slow other players will surely make things more interesting as there's literally nothing worse in a game than being forced to move in slow motion.

The Freeze Trap can already be used in the Save The World mode and this would be the first time it will feature in Battle Royale. As ever, we'll need to wait on Epic Games confirming this, but it's an interesting find nonetheless.

Season 6's theme is Darkness Rises and Loot Lake now has a floating island hovering above it. Pets have finally arrived in Fortnite and a tonne of spooky new skins, including the fearsome Dire and feisty Calamity. You can also find our guide to the Week 1 challenges here.
