Fortnite anti-gravity bug disrupts eSports tournament

The Fortnite Summer Skirmish isn't the time to start unexpectedly flying like it's a Mary Poppins tea party.

The eSports field has become popular enough to debate making it an Olympics category, but there's still one major problem to overcome - glitches and bugs. Take the Fortnite Summer Skirmish grand finals held at PAX West, where players suddenly started to fly.

As reported by Eurogamer, participants suddenly started floating across the map without warning, throwing ground-based strategies out the window. After initial speculation that the mystery cube's anti-gravity field was misbehaving, Epic Games confirmed an incredibly-rare bug occurred during the match.

Anti-gravity fields were switched off for the rest of the tournament, and affected players were granted a make-up match to ensure the victory was above board. The final winner was Morgausse, who walked away with a $250,000 grand prize.

This isn't the first time bugs have disrupted an eSports tournament. Take the World of Tanks 2016 grand finals, where a two-against-one player finale was disrupted after one participant got stuck on a cliff.

Now one question remains: what are the odds that Epic Games makes a tongue-in-cheek LTM over this? Or is that what the cube's anti-gravity field is building towards?
