Rico chases a tornado in new Just Cause 4 gameplay footage

Just Cause 4's latest trailer shows off a force more destructive than Rico himself: a freaking tornado.

Just Cause 4's main selling point is inserting new weather systems into you chaotic path of destruction. The most notable example are tornadoes, one of the most destructive natural phenomena on the planet. Of course, this being Just Cause, the question is how can you use tornadoes to your advantage? Thankfully, a new trailer from Avalanche Studios answers that for us.

In the example mission, Rico chases a tornado using the Storm Chaser, a specialized vehicle for navigating changing weather patterns. While you'll still have to avoid obstacles, the Storm Chaser holds up quite well while your surroundings are absolutely devastated.

Eventually the action switches to an enemy-controlled airport, where the Black Hand are using wind cannons to keep the tornado away. (By the way, wind cannons are probably the most feasible technologies in a universe where Rico can keep switching between that zipline and wingsuit.) Since destroying the airport is Rico's primary objective, taking the cannons out is the quickest way to achieve victory.

Of course, as helpful as the tornado's power may be, you'll still have to watch out for the debris it creates. Good luck if you fly into it with your wingsuit.

Just Cause 4 ziplines onto PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on December 4, 2018.
