The Sinking City story trailer has a face tentacles problem

Frogwares has dropped an intriguing new trailer for The Sinking City.

The Sinking City is an open-world, adventure and investigation game similar to the studio's previous work with the Sherlock Holmes series.

The big difference here, of course, is that the Sinking City is very much inspired by Lovecraftian horror. The game takes place in the 1920s, where we'll be taking control of Charles W. Reed, a private investigator who travels to Oakmont, Massachusetts seeking to understand the nature of his visions.

If you're thinking this description sounds a bit familiar, it's because developer Frogwares worked on the official Call of Cthulhu game before the project changed hands to Cyanide. The game's are no doubt different, but both do take place in the 1920s, have Lovecraftian themes and both let you play as a private investigator.

It's a bit curious, but we're not going to complain we're getting two Lovecraftian games instead of one. The Sinking City was recently given a March 21, 2019 release date.
