Halo TV series greenlit by Showtime, production starts next year

It's finally happening.

Showtime has greenlit the Halo TV series, and the debut season will span 10 episodes.

Announced five years ago as in development with Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television and Showtime, the Halo series will be directed and executive produced by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes).

Kyle Killen (Awake) will serve as executive producer, writer and showrunner, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The Halo series will begin production in early 2019, and along with Spielberg's TV arm of Amblin Entertainment, Microsoft/343 Industries are also producing.

When the series was announced in 2013, Spielberg was set to executive produce. He is not listed as such any longer, according to the report.
