Drax actor Dave Bautista wants to play Marcus Fenix in a Gears of War movie
Dave Bautista, former WWE star known for playing Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy (among many others), is actually a fan of Gears of War and Marcus Fenix.
Dave Bautista wants to play Marcus Fenix in a movie. In fact, the actor has been badgering the rights holders for a while to try and get them to cast him.
This unlikely fandom was revealed in an interview Bautista gave to Gamespot, where he also said it would be a dream role for him.
Microsoft and Universal Studios have been trying to make a Gears of War movie for a while. It was initially planned as a trilogy, but since 2009, the project went nowhere.
The project was revived in 2016, and it even went as far as assigning a writer to pen the script. This development was a little over a year ago, which is when we last heard about it.
I could definitely see Bautista playing old man Fenix, the version seen Gears of War 4. That would certainly make a lot more sense than young boneheaded Fenix of the original trilogy.
