God of War sold over 3.1 million units in three days

God of War is a hit.

Sony has announced God of War is the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive in the console's history.

God of War released on April 20, and within three days sold over 3.1 million units worldwide.

Santa Monica Studio studio head Shannon Studstill has this to say on the matter:

“I would like to personally thank the millions of fans around the world who decided to embark on Kratos’ latest adventure with us," said Studstill on the PS Blog. "Your support is truly inspiring, and it’s a reason why we push ourselves every day to go beyond the boundaries of play.

"I’d also like to thank our Creative Director, Cory Barlog, and Director of Product Development, Yumi Yang and our entire amazing team at Santa Monica Studio. The belief in the game’s vision and the passion for storytelling across the team is undeniable. We look forward to hearing more about how fans are creating new memories of their favorite God of War gameplay moments that will be remembered for a long time.”

Sony Santa Monica announced what to expect in future game patches today. The text size for menus and subtitles will be made larger,  players will have the option to rebind Rage Mode controls, and the usual round of bug squashing and some crash fixes.

God of War has received excellent scores from critics, and it may just be one of the best games of the generation. PS4 users are also pretty impressed with it too, going by online chatter and user scores.
