Free-to-play hero shooter Paladins leaves beta next week

Paladins, the hero shooter from Hi-Rez Studios, will officially launch on May 8.

Paladins first entered open beta in September, 2016, but it's now ready to leave Steam Early Access and fully launch on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

To celebrate the impending launch, developer Hi-Rez is planning two weeks of in-game giveaways, contests, livestreams and more. To start with, anyone who played the beta will be gifted 200 Crystals and a special avatar. Just don't forget to claim them between May 8-31.

This even applies to players who plan to jump in before May 7. What's more, all of the game's champions will be unlocked from now until May 7.

Making it out of beta also means Paladins won't be getting any major system changes in the future. The developer's experimentation with different card mechanics and monetisation schemes during the beta has allowed it to create "a formula that works for everyone."

"If you’ve been afraid to get really invested into Paladins because we might change things again, don’t worry: this launch is our commitment to this vision for Paladins future," the developer pointed out.

This is not the end of the road, however, as Paladins will continue to get polished and updated with bug fixes and the like on a "regular patch cycle." Hi-Rez promises recurring in-game events, new cosmetics, and new game modes.

There's also the battle royale mode currently in development.

"Even now, with Paladins a million times more polished than it was at the start of Early Access, we do not consider Paladins a truly 'finished' product. We know there’s still work to be done," said Hi-Rez.
