Killer Instinct and Skyrim Switch port dev Iron Galaxy wants to port Monster Hunter World to Nintendo Switch

Iron Galaxy, the studio behind many multi-platform ports, is offering to make a Nintendo Switch port of Monster Hunter World.

This is crucial, because doing so is going to be a challenging task that Capcom itself said may not be doable. Monster Hunter World was envisioned and designed as a game for the more powerful current-gen systems and PC.

The Switch is not only behind in terms of raw power, it's also a hybrid console that would require special design changes. Capcom feels that a game built from the ground up for Switch would fare better, so it's ruled out World on Switch for now.

But Iron Galaxy is up to the challenge, and CEO Adam Boyes (who previously worked at Capcom) revealed interest in taking on the project on Twitter.

The studio most recently ported Skyrim to Nintendo Switch, but it also has a long history of porting other developers' games to newer platforms. Not all of the ports are amazing, like Borderlands 2 on PS Vita and Batman: Arkham Knight on PC, but the team has other good ports like Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, Deadpool for PS4/Xbox One and others.

Going back to the previous generation, Iron Galaxy is responsible for porting Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike to Xbox 360 and PS3. The studio even created the game's online component from the ground up.

Iron Galaxy is also known for taking over Killer Instinct development duties after Double Helix was bought by Amazon. Killer Instinct fans often talk about the level of support the studio has given the series in seasons two and three.
