Fortnite devs working to bring parity between Save the World and Battle Royale controls

Epic Games is working to bring more parity to Fortnite's controller scheme.

Fornite Save the World and Battle Royale have different control schemes, and numerous players of both experience difficulty switching between the two.

Speaking with USgamer, Fortnite creative director Darren Sugg said players should see an update to the controls in the future.

"We're working on bringing parity to the control schemes between the two modes, said Sugg. "The team has some ideas, so players should see updates in the future."

Sugg said parity between Save the World and Battle Royale isn't as easy as "simply adapting the default Battle Royale," scheme.

This is due to Battle Royale's default controller scheme, Combat Pro, which is very different to Save the World. Since the latter's default controls are "class-based abilities that require additional buttons," switching between the two can be difficult for those who play both modes.

In October, Fortnite update 1.8 introduced the Combat Pro control scheme for Battle Royale. The new configuration was aimed at keeping the user’s thumbs on the sticks as much as possible. This made weapon swaps and build a quicker experience.

The change was made so the controls in Battle Royale felt "familiar for shooter players."

Fornite players on the forums and the subreddit want the option to use Combat Pro in Save the World so they no longer have to remember two different control schemes.
