Destiny 2 Exotic weapons are getting tuned next month with update 1.1.4

Along with discussing the return of Faction Rally next week, Bungie also touched upon specifics regarding the tuning pass for Exotic gear coming in March.

Destiny 2 senior gameplay designer Jon Weisnewski and his team are working to make Exotics more “Exotic-er," and one of the main focuses is adding and/or increasing player Power spikes.

The sandbox team will also focus on low-usage items but all items are being considered.

In the weekly update, Bungie used the Graviton Lance as an example of a weapon being tuned with the 1.1.4. update in March. According to Weisnewski, this particular weapon “looks great, sounds great, has a neat explosion," but needs work when it comes to output and handling. Bascially, it's "all spectacle, not enough utility."

This means players can expect the team to look into a weapon's established gameplay and push it harder while avoiding "catch-all improvements" that dilute item identity.

Exotic weapons which will not see a pass with update 1.1.4 are Merciless, Telesto, Wardcliff Coil, MIDA Multi Tool, Colony, Legend of Acrius, and Vigilance Wing.

"Some of the above perform well without needing changes, while others, like the Vigilance Wing Pulse Rifle, are already benefiting from the tuning changes planned for Update 1.1.4," said Weisnewski. "Everything else has had some degree of power or utility increase, whether it’s simply bumping a stat or some deeper plumbing."

Later this month,on February 27 update 1.1.3 releases and brings with it Nightfall scoring changes.

Update 1.1.4. to  Destiny 2 is currently slated for release on March 27. This update will also include a 6v6 Iron Banner, Nightfall Challenge Cards, and more sandbox changes.

Come May, Season 3 will kick off with Prestige Eater of Worlds and in September, a major expansion.
