Watch gameplay from the first Chinese PUBG mobile game
One of two mobile games based on PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has already been released in China, and it's the closest thing we have to a mobile PUBG.
If you recall, Tencent, the Chinese giant, bought the rights to publish PUBG in China last year. At the time, Tencent announced that it's working on a Chinese-localised version of the main PC game, and two mobile off-shoots.
One of the two was said to be an arcady recreation of the formula, with vehicle combat, while the other was revealed as a standard port of the PC PUBG. The former, developed by Timi Studio, has already been released on the app store in China.
Tencent did not say if it's going to bring it to the West, but for now, you can watch gameplay from the many Chinese players who have been playing since the weekend. YouTube channel Mobile Games Family About PUBG has a tonne of gameplay videos.
We've embedded one below, and you'll clearly see how much like the original PC game it is. The lobby, plane, weapon models, animations, sounds, and general gameplay are all intact. It seems, though, much like the Xbox One version, there's no aim assist, which makes firefights amusing.
