Shadow of the Colossus: How to beat Colossus 1 – The Wanderer

By Staff, Tuesday, 6 February 2018 02:57 GMT

It’s time to take on the 1st Colossus as you begin your epic adventure.

You begin by entering the giant chamber with the well at the bottom and pass through the great hall into the Shrine of Worship.

This is where you start the hunt for all Colossi. When you’ve defeated one, you’ll find yourself back here to begin the next search. You must find all 16 Colossi and defeat them.

The first one is easy to find and easy to beat and acts as an introduction to the game. Hold aloft your sword and the beam of light will point due south.

Mount your horse and ride it south until you hit a big wall. You’ll learn how to climb here, jump and roll under obstacles. Once you reach the top you’ll be introduced to the first Colossi.

When approaching any of the Colossi hold up your sword and it will highlight its first weak spot. In this case, its weak spot is the hairy patch behind its leg. Jump and climb onto it and once in position raise your sword to charge it. You’ll see the meter to the bottom right swell, and once it’s full press the same button again to cause maximum damage.

Repeat this process until the Colossus falls to one knee. This is your cue to attack the second weak spot. In this case, climb up its back and onto the top of the head where you should repeat the same trick; charge your sword and plunge it into its head.

With the Colossus defeated your health bar will increase and you’ll return to the original chamber to take on the second Colossus. You’ll also unlock the Trophy – Valley of the Wanderer.
