Latest Destiny 2 expansion rumour calls it Gods of Mars, mentions Charlemagne and Clovis Bray

Destiny 2 has produced another alleged expansion leak. Get out your salt shaker!

A Destiny 2 expansion has allegedly popped up on the PSN ahead of official reveal.

We say "allegedly" because we don't know anybody who saw it in situ, and instead must rely on a screenshot a skeptical Shack News spotted on Destiny Raid Secrets Reddit, where equally skeptical mods flagged the post before the images were deleted.

Screenshots are pretty easily faked and this one has some real red flags, as it cropped up earlier on a Japanese board, the OP has no post history, there's no additional source, and the OP hasn't even made an attempt to get it under the noses of the busiest communities. So the consensus seems to be that it's about as fake as vegan cheese.

Still, here it is - take a look for yourself.

Some of the details may well turn out to be accurate even if it is a troll, though. Art on the Destiny 2 Season pass suggests the second expansion will be about Rasputin, and it's not unlikely Clovis Bray and Mars will be involved if that's the case.

If Destiny 2 follows the same pattern as the original Destiny, we should see the second expansion around May; as Curse of Osiris lined up with The Dark Below, the Rasputin content should line up with House of Wolves. If that's the case, we may be waiting a while; Bungie only gave first details of Curse of Osiris about a month before it released.

Let's put on our spinfoil hats for a moment and imagine this is both absolutely real and deliberately leaked by Bungie as part of a marketing campaign (Kotaku UK makes a strong case for Ubisoft doing this for Assassin's Creed Origins).

Getting the expansion out in March would be a tremendously good idea. Destiny 2 has taken a real beating over the past few months (we've dished a few blows out ourself) and if Bungie has the content ready it certainly couldn't hurt to accelerate release and hurry on with doing something more meaningful to shore up the loot shooter.

Probably fake though, hey.
