No No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom combat gameplay looks like more fun than the old Familiar system

No No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom isn't all about the pretty graphics - there's fast-paced RPG combat waiting for you, too.

A new No No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom gameplay video has been released showcasing the sequel's overhauled battle systems.

Although it's light on context and explanations, there's plenty to take in beyond the monsters; you can get a feel for the three party members' melee and ranged attacks, a variety of different special abilities, and Higgledies - the new little critters that help you out in battle, taking the place of Wrath of the White Witch's Familiars.

RPG experts may be tempted to start piecing together the game's systems from the numbers flying around but it's likely this footage is from an unbalanced build, so it's probably best not to get too excited about relative levels and damage output just yet.

Instead, why don't we all just spend a few minutes gushing about how beautiful Studio Ghibli's distinctive style is? Level-5 has done such a wonderful job bringing it to life, again - and this time with the extra grunt of the PS4 behind it. The animation studio isn't involved in the story and overall direction of the project this time, though.

No No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom releases in March for PC and PS4.
