It looks like the Predator is coming to Ghost Recon Wildlands this week - yes, the one from the movie

We're not sure what the onomatopoeia for the Predator noise is, but imagine it in your head now, please.

Ubisoft has dropped a teaser for an upcoming special event, 'The Hunt', and while they don't come right out and say that it's about the Predator, it is...definitely about the Predator.

The hints here make it pretty obvious what is happening. You've got the jungle setting, with men being hunted. You've got the flayed corpses. You've got the damn Predator noise. There's the fact that the date is spelled out in the Predator font, and the heat-vision logo. So either the Predator is coming to Ghost Recon Wildlands or Ubisoft is just committing to a hoax (we'd bet on the first one).

The logistics of this mode will be revealed on December 13 at noon EST, on Ubisoft's Twitch channel.

The Predator is an iconic movie monster, first appearing in John McTiernan's 1987 masterpiece, Predator (which McTiernan followed up with Die Hard the next year - that's the hottest of hot streaks). Later film appearances by the Predator have never quite lived up to the original, although Shane Black's new Predator film, The Predator, is due in August next year, and Black (who had a minor role in the original and worked as a script doctor on it) is yet to direct a bad film.

Last time we saw a Predator in a game, it was ripping apart Mortal Kombat characters. It's perhaps better known, though, from the Alien vs Predator series.

This event is due to start on December 14. On the same day, Wildlands will get the Jungle Storm update, which adds extra modes, extra maps, and ranked play the game's PVP options.

Hopefully it'll give us the authentic Predator experience we crave.
