Street Fighter 5: arcade mode will have six paths, bonus rounds, and over 200 different endings

Capcom has unveiled some details about the upcoming Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition.

Arcade Edition, which is due on January 16, was revealed back in October. will be available as both a standalone release and as free DLC for anyone who owns Street Fighter 5. The retail edition will also contain all DLC fighters released so far.

Since then we haven't had a lot of information, bar the odd V-Trigger trailer, but today the Capcom Unity Twitch stream showed off some gameplay footage, which was followed up by a blog post with further details.

In Street Fighter 5's arcade mode, you'll be able to choose between five different paths, which will dictate the fights you get to take part in. There are paths for Street Fighter 1-5, as well as one for Street Fighter Alpha. Depending on which path you choose, you'll get to fight characters that appeared within that game - but each character can also only go down a path if they have appeared in that game (meaning that Street Fighter 5 is the only path open to every single character).

By the sound of it, you'll get unique endings for each character on each path, meaning that there are over 200 different potential endings to see if you have the stamina to clear every path with every character.

After each fight you get a choice of who to fight next, and more 'Arcade Points' are awarded if you choose and defeat more challenging opponents. The bonus round, where you destroy barrels as they drop from the top of the screen, also returns.

Street Fighter 5 will be playable for anyone attended PlayStation Experience, but the rest of us only have to wait until mid-January to jump in.
