Destiny 2: Bungie is making changes to Guided Games, looking into ways to improve the social experience

Bungie has revealed a couple of upcoming changes it’s working on in the social side of Destiny 2.

In the weekly update, the developer revealed some of the feedback players have given about Destiny 2’s Guided Games.

Namely, the lack of audio feedback when matchmaking finds a clan, the lack of a Trials of the Nine option, and the lack of incentives for guides. When Curse of Osiris releases in December, some of these issues will be fixed.

First, Bungie is adding a sound cue to notify players that a clan has been found. The update also adds better messaging to let players know that they’re still at the front of the queue when they reject a clan. Full clans will be able to guide solo players after the update, something they can’t do now.

But not everything has an easy fix. For instance, a common complaint from players is that Guided Games lack raid checkpoints offered in pre-made groups. This is intentional, as Bungie didn’t want clans to get rid of the guided player after reaching a certain checkpoint. That said, the developer noted that it’s looking at these requests.

One other potential issue of enabling checkpoints is that it saturates the matchmaking pool when it’s no longer guaranteed that you’ll be starting from the beginning of the raid.

Beyond that, Bungie confirmed that it’s working on adding clan chat directly into the game, and didn’t rule out an option to do the same in social spaces. Finally, the developer confirmed that progress is being made on the emote wheel.

In the same weekly update, we learned that Destiny 2 is getting HDR and Xbox One X support in December, and that the reset times will be changing, too.
