This Dragon Ball FighterZ trailer gives us a proper glimpse at the game's plot

This trailer is here to remind us that Dragon Ball isn't all strong dudes powering up for ages before punching each other.

Dragon Ball FighterZ, which is due for release on January 26, will have a fairly extensive story mode that tells an original story within the Dragon Ball universe.

The heroes of this story, which takes place across three arcs, according to the trailer, are Goku...and you. Gasp! The implication here seems to be that Goku doesn't know who he is, which could well mean that the plot revolves around you, the player, taking control of Goku's body (which is not entirely unprecedented - there was a short-run manga recently, 'The Case of Being Reincarnated as Yamcha', about a Dragon Ball fan being transported into a character's body and living their life).

This is a follow-up on the teaser trailer we got back in September, but this one is far more revealing. It looks like there will be a bunch of clones to fight, and seeing so many characters - good and evil, living and dead - teaming up together hints at the size of the conflict being presented.

There's even a little moment in here of Vegeta worrying about Bulma, which is always nice. As always, the visual style continues to impress us as much as the gameplay.

Hopefully we'll find out more about the story, and the mysterious Android 21, before the game's release.
