Farming Gold Coins in Super Mario Odyssey

There are many ways to gather gold coins in Super Mario Odyssey, and the first one is best for beginners: just explore. There are loads of gold coins stashed around the environment so if you need a stack in a hurry, a quick survey of an area you haven't flogged yet will give a boost to your bank balance.

If you've exhausted the readily-available environmental gold coins, there are two really good methods to farm an infinite supply gold coins you can get on to very early in Super Mario Odyssey.

First of all, head to the Totstarena in the Sand Kingdom. It costs 10 coins to play, but winning awards you 40 coins - so you can make a lot of money very quickly. As the video shows, if you stand to one side of the slots, you can throw your hat to hit all three matching symbols at once, every time. Nintendo should probably patch this, to be honest - it's super easy.

Our second infinite gold coin farm is also found in the Sand Kingdom. See the video below for a map reference, but basically you want to jump into the pit leading to the Deepest Underground area, and throw your hat to capture the Coin Purse enemy, which makes you spit up coins constantly for a short time. When your coin power runs out, just jump off the edge so you respawn and can begin again.

There's one more, extremely quick and worthwhile method to farm gold coins in Super Mario Odyssey but where it takes place is a bit of a spoiler, so we'll pop it down below the video.

The endgame gold coin farm in Super Mario Odyssey involves going to Bowser's Kingdom and head for the Beneath the Castle checkpoint. Follow the route shown in the video to find a seed you can plant in a pot, sprouting a beanstalk that takes you to an area with over 150 coins in a short bonus area. As the video notes, you need to throw your hat to hit the booster plants, but don't make any directional inputs, to collect every single gold coin.

Once you finish this section you drop back down right by the pot so you can do it all again. This makes it very easy to quickly farm a huge number of coins and clear out Super Mario Odyssey's shop completely.
