Players figured out a way to get a free Star Wars: Battlefront 2 beta key from EA without pre-ordering

Earlier today, people discovered that you can sort of scam EA out of a free Star Wars: Battlefront 2 beta early access code, without having pre-ordered the game.

This is important, of course, because right now, only those who pre-ordered Star Wars: Battlefront 2 can play the beta. Unless you were lucky enough to catch one of those 10p PC codes, you pretty much have to wait until Friday.

On the game's subReddit, one player posted a step-by-step guide for how anyone, pre-order or not, can get their hands on a beta code. According to INGWR, all you need to do is head over to the support page for the Battlefront 2 beta, pick your desired platform, hit 'Codes and Promotions' and use 'invalid code' as the issue.

From there, you can type in any sensible reason, such as the code you received from your retailer not working, or that you didn't receive one at all etc. Pick your region and log in to your EA account to submit the ticket.

Multiple reports from Reddit users indicate that the trick actually works. Judging by how quickly EA responds to the support ticket (less than a minute), the process is very likely automated. There were a few reports yesterday of players who did pre-order not having received codes, so this could be EA's way of reimbursing those affected - before everyone else jumped on it.

The Star Wars: Battlefront 2 beta opens up to all on Friday, and wraps up on Monday, October 9.
