Blizzard is testing a change for the all-new Mercy on Overwatch's PTR

The all-new, all-improved Mercy has been getting a lot of use since her overhaul, but Blizzard isn't necessarily settling on the exact abilities she now has.

Back in August, Blizzard started testing a fairly radical rebalance of Mercy, which ditched her resurrect Ultimate, replacing it with the ability to bring back one hero at a time with a 30 second cooldown. Her new Ultimate ability, Valkyrie, strengthens all her stats and lets her chain healing between heroes for a period of time.

The changes were tested in the Public Test Realm and then were brought into the game in late September. They've gone over fairly well with players.

But characters in Overwatch are not set in stone, and some changes are already being explored for Mercy. Right now, Blizzard is testing a nerf of the healer to better balance her.

If you check out the Public Test Realm at the moment, a slight change has been made to how Mercy's two new abilities work together. Right now, in a standard playlist, triggering Mercy's Valkyrie ability also resets her resurrection cooldown, meaning that she can bring someone pack, pop her Ultimate, and immediately bring someone else back. On the PTR, Blizzard is testing a change whereby Mercy's Ultimate doubles the range of resurrect, letting you bring the dead back from further away, but the cooldown remains consistent.

Whether this will improve balance or not - and whether it will be implemented into the full game - remains to be seen, but don't be surprised if Mercy gets a small tweak soon.
